It’s Autism Awareness month, people. And my 5-year-old takes this seriously.
She was Star of the Week in her class last week, and for her “sharing” she wanted to talk about it. I couldn’t have been more proud of her.
She showed a picture of her cousins who have it, and talked about why they are important to her. We then showed a video and talked about tools available to autistic kids that struggle with communication. It was bad ass.
Of course my default would have been to just read from my awesome sis-in-law’s hilarious blog on the topic, but given the audience (kindergarteners) I decided that video input from her was probably a… more appropriate… course of action. Ahem.
