cone of shame

Martha is sporting the Cone of Shame.  I feel a little sorry for her, but this is self-inflicted so I can’t offer up full-fledged sympathy.

Apparently she was nosing around our composter… and ate a corn cob, (among other things) which got lodged in her small intestine and resulted in barfing ALL over the house, primarily in areas hard to reach (under the coffee table) and clean (all rugs… mere inches away from easily-cleanable wood floors).  Upon examination at our vet, surgery was in order, and thus her new fashion statement until the staples come out (ew).

To say that this dog isn’t discerning is an understatement.  What is shocking to me is how self-preservation plays no role.  I mean, it’s not like she’s out starving/foraging.  Why must she augment her sensible kibble diet with garbage and poo?

Wait, don’t answer that.

Wow, the cones sure have gotten fancier over the years– all the cool doggies will be sporting them!
